How to make gold pinwheel decorations

Impress friends and family with these luxe-looking homemade Christmas decorations.

You will need

  • 2 sheets A4 or A3 gold paper or card
  • scissors
  • string
  • glue stick
  • pencil
  • 10p or £2 coin (depending on the size of your wheel)

Step 1

Begin by folding your two sheets of paper in a concertina style. Make sure the width of each fold is the same – our folds are 1in (2.5cm). Cut off any excess from the ends.

Step 2

Put one folded paper concertina on top of the other and tie them together in the middle using the string. Leave a length of string to hang your pinwheel from once it’s finished.

Step 3

Open out both pieces of paper to make a fan and glue the two halves together to form one continuous wheel.

Step 4

Cover the knot, if you like, by drawing around the coin on leftover paper, cutting out a circle and gluing over the centre.
