How to make a gift bag from an old jumper

Make Christmas goodie bags from old knits and fill them with gifts – here’s an easy step-by-step guide.

You will need

  • An old jumper
  • Some yarn or thread
  • A safety pin
  • Scissors
  • Ribbon
  • Gift tag

Step 1

Lay the jumper flat on a table. Tie the end of your yarn or thread to the loop at the end of the safety pin.

Step 2

Turn the jumper inside out and carefully start sewing from one armpit of the jumper to the other. The small safety pin should be easy to get through the small gaps in the knitted jumper.

Step 3

Tie off both ends securely and trim off any excess yarn.

Step 4

Using scissors, cut off the neck and arms of the jumper about half an inch from where you have sewn.

Step 5

Turn the jumper back the right way round and fill it with presents before tying the end with a festive ribbon.
