You will need
- Yarn in different colours (we used red, white and mint green)
- Wire clothes hanger
(Top left) Using a compass, cut out two identical doughnut shapes from a piece of strong card. If you don’t have a compass, draw around a bowl and use an eggcup or shot glass for the smaller circle. Place the two doughnuts together.
(Bottom left) Thread the end of the yarn through the hole (leaving about 6-inches spare) and begin wrapping the doughnut. (Top right) Wrap the yarn around the doughnut until it’s completely covered.
(Bottom right) Place your scissors between the two doughnut cards and carefully cut the yarn the whole way round, making sure strands don’t fall out.
Cut a 20 cm length of yarn and thread it between the two doughnuts. Wrap it tightly around a few times then tie a double knot – it will start to resemble a pom pom. Pull off the cardboard doughnut and repeat the process until you have enough pom poms to fill the wreath.
Bend the wire clothes hanger into a circle (securing with tape if necessary) and arrange your pom poms, ensuring the colours are distributed evenly.
Tie the pom pom baubles tightly onto the wire clothes hanger using the leftover yarn, and trim any excess.
Finally, add a bow to the front and tie a ribbon to hang it from a door.
TIP: No time to make lots of pom poms? Make a few and alternate them with regular baubles for an equally stylish finish.
