Daisy bunting

Get crafty with the kids and try this simple thrifty idea to decorate your home

You will need

  • Toilet roll cardboard tubes
  • Poster paint in assorted colours
  • PVA glue
  • Coloured string
  • Rolling pin
  • Scissors
  • Clothes peg
  • Paintbrush
  • Newspaper

Step 1

Press the cardboard tube flat lengthways. Re-flatten with a rolling pin to give the folds a crisp edge.

Step 2

Cut the tube width-ways into six equal sections to make six oval ‘petals’.

Step 3

Lay the first ring flat and lengthways on your work surface and apply a drop of glue 1·5cm in from one folded edge. Place a second ring on top so it is lying flush with the ring below it. Repeat for the remaining rings. Hold the stack together with a peg and let dry.

Step 4

Fan out daisy and glue last two rings together.

Step 5

Once you have made the desired number of daisies, paint them in your chosen colour or range of colours and leave to dry on newspaper.

Step 6

Thread ribbon or string through one petal of each daisy and hang up.
